National Agriculture Production Report
Prepared By Kenya National Bureau of Statistics - 2024The agriculture sector continues to play a critical role in Kenya’s economy accounting for 21.8 percent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2023 and employs over 40 percent of the total population. Given the critical role that the sector plays in the Kenyan economy, it is increasingly important to ensure that high frequency quality data is available to support evidence-based decisions and policies, management of national food security, agricultural productivity and values, as well as establishing the challenges that may affect the agricultural sector growth. Towards this end, the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development (MoALD) and State department for Blue economy and Fisheries has been conducting annual Agricultural Sector Data Validation in all 47 counties including the key agricultural state corporations that collect data on the mandated value chains.
